Egerton U12 5

Hartford U12 3

24/10/99

EGERTON'S second successive win was marked by excellent teamwork and some fine individual performances.

Man of the match Robert Hughes was a thorn in the Hartford side from start to finish, scoring one goal and having a hand in

others.

Gavin Campbell also caused constant panic in the Hartford defence, scoring two including a fine solo run and shot.

The game was always close, with goals traded in a first half in which Hartford twice held the lead only for Egerton to equalise both times.

Although missing two regular defenders, Egerton worked hard at the back, Oliver Jones and Liam Gardener chasing everything. Ross Donaldson played his part, terrier-like in defence and always keen to support the forwards.

Two-all at half time, Egerton got their noses in front mid-way through the second half, and should have been comfortable when they made it 4-2 with five minutes to go.

However, some indecisive defending allowed Hartford to pull a goal back in the dying minutes. The comfort factor was restored when striker Neil Bracegirdle was set up by Craig Cross for his second, and Egerton's fifth, just before the final whistle.
