THE Lions were given a severe mauling by a superior side in this league cup tie.
Overwhelmed in defence by long balls and a speedy attack it was only three minutes into the half when the Lions went a goal down.
Although Callum Godwin managed to reduce the gap to 5-1 the half-time score was 9-1.
In the second half, with the wind in their faces, Lions worked hard in mid-field and defence with sterling contributions from Yardley, Freeman and Holt and some miraculous saves by Ben Washburn, the Lions' man of the match.
However, it was only a short break and Tytherington added seven more by the close of play.
