Egerton's first win of the season was well deserved. Some excellent team
work through midfield and in attack was matched with a solid performance
in defence.
Robert Hughes and Shane Davies combined cleverly in the first minute,
with the resultant shot only just wide. Oliver Parker also had an early
shot, but the Weaverham keeper, competent throughout, held well.
Egerton's strike duo Ben Hamilton and Neil Bracegirdle were soon at
their threatening best, supported by a midfield which battled much
harder than in previous games. It was just reward when Neil Bracegirdle
gave Egerton the lead with an excellent turn and shot.
On for the second half, Gavin Campbell worked hard in midfield, and was
rewarded with Egerton's second goal. In defence, Oliver Jones and Oliver
Parker were rarely beaten in the tackle, snuffing out Weaverham's
attacks with confidence. Russell Bracegirdle, returning after injury,
was also impressive.
Following a third goal, again from Neil Bracegirdle, Weaverham took some
of the shine off Egerton's performance by scoring in the dying minues.
This was a strong, competitive performance by Egerton, which should give
the team the confidence to build a good run in the league.
