For over the years the sub postmaster and his wife have become minds of useful information for visitors to Rostherne.
"We have acted as a tourist information centre for many American visitors," said David, 50.
"I have told them lots of little things."
The couple took over Rostherne Post Office after being made redundant from jobs in Birmingham.
Then they knew little about the area, but have gleaned much information from villagers.
But it's not only visitors from abroad who have benefited from their knowledge.
Delivery men struggling to find a house in a village where the homes are not numbered always know where to call.
"I think we know where everybody lives and are on first name terms with most of them," said David.
But now David plans to focus on his own business, Vivid Signs, which he runs with his son on Knutsford's Parkgate Industrial Estate.
However, whoever takes over at the Post Office won't have too far to go for help.
David and Rosemary are moving but just a few doors away.
"We're not going far because we love the village," said Rosemary.
