MIDDLEWICH Town could take a steady step towards promotion in their Mid-Cheshire Division One clash at Garswood United on Saturday.
A win would lift Town above their opponents into second place. A 4-2 victory over Pilkington on Saturday has already put Dave Twite's team in their highest position, third, since relegation from the North West Counties League in 1998.
With five wins and a draw from their last six games, the boss has every reason to feel confident of continuing the surge of good form.
Twite said: "It's important we get something up there. We've got to get something to try to keep a bit of pressure on Barnton and we need to maintain our own position as well. We've put ourselves in a good position with the wins and the hard work so the last thing we want to do is let it slip away now."
Middlewich will again be without the holidaying John Lewis for the trip to Garswood, as the league switches to winter kick-off times (2.15pm).
