WINSFORD Grange under-12s beat Over under-12s 3-1 in a typical derby battle on Sunday.
Five minutes into the game Grange old boy David Unwin spun on a loose ball 10 yards out and keeper Danny Astles was unable to keep it out. Danny Kerr then equalised an unstoppable shot.
Craig Smith then beat half the Over team before slipping the ball to David McGowan who spotted Liam Davies, who scored with a looping shot.
Grange kept pushing for a third and did not have to wait long as Dave McGowan smashed home from the edge of the box.
From the restart Over began the stronger. Grange have keeper Danny Astles to be thankful for as he made a string of remarkable saves, and Sean Greenaway for some outstanding defence. Both sides began to cancel each other out, unable to break down each other's offside trap. The ball only managed to find the net once more, from the body of Liam Davies but was ruled out for, yes you have guessed it, offside.
All credit to Over for effort and for letting Grange know they had been in a game.
