Report by STUART DYE

A YOUNG lad on his milk collection round was attacked and robbed in a Middlewich alleyway last Friday evening.

The 15-year-old boy, who has not been named by police, was set upon by a man wearing a balaclava as he made his way through the alleyway between Barrington Drive and Sutton Lane at around 6pm on October 22.

The thug pushed him to the floor and demanded his satchel, with its cash contents from the evening round.

The attacker then ran off down the alleyway, and turned left on to Sutton Lane.

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to the attack, which left the boy badly shaken. And, although the mugger's face was hidden, they have issued a description based on the boy's account of his ordeal.

The attacker is described as a white male of slim build, between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 9ins. He was wearing a white T-shirt with orange writing on the back, and black jeans.

Detective Constable Mark McManus, in charge of the case, said: "The youth involved was not seriously hurt, but was badly shaken by the attack.

"The fact that this attack occurred at a relatively busy time is a worry, and we would ask people to be extra vigilant in this area.

"If anyone saw anything or anyone at all suspicious on Friday evening they should contact me immediately."
