IT has been a highly successful year at the County High School in Leftwich, headmaster Trevor Hodkinson told a packed audience.

He was speaking at the school's annual presentation evening, last Wednesday.

Mr Hodkinson highlighted the completed £1.7 million building project which now provides first class facilities.

The main focus of his report was the rich variety of opportunities which the school has offered its pupils and the excellent results gained last summer.

"You faced challenging courses, demanding course-work assignments and discriminating examination papers," he told former pupils who returned to receive their certificates.

"Your fine success was hard won and thoroughly deserved."

The guest of honour was Derek Bowden, senior lecturer in educational management and leadership at Lincoln University, who was formerly the founding head of the high school.

Music was provided by the school's popular male voice choir.
