ANOTHER convincing performance saw Northwich Vics Reserves sweep to a 6-0 win at home to Ashton United on Saturday.
Vics opened the scoring after just 12 minutes when Paul Buckley hit a great pass from wide on the left, leaving Mike Heverin with a simple goal from close range.
The second goal came four minutes later. Scott Thomas, making his debut, put in a cross which Nathan Peel tucked away with ease.
At this point Vics started coasting and although chances continued to be made, there was no further score in the first half.
Vics stayed in control at the start of the second half and in the 50th minute, Thomas opened his account, slotting the ball home after dribbling round two defenders.
Five minutes later, midfielder Buckley was brought down in the box and James Birdsey scored from the spot to make it 4-0.
On the hour, leading scorer Lee Poland replaced Peel, while Steve Capper came on for Alan Glover. Within minutes of coming on, Poland had scored an opportunist goal from close range.
Five minutes from time, Birdsey scored his second after a good cross from Capper on the left.
Vics Reserves: Williams, Glover, Birdsey, Walsh, Boothby, Thomas, Buckley, Peel, Heverin, Burke. Subs used: Logan, Capper, Poland.
