WEAVERHAM High School pupils were in outstanding form at the Mid-Cheshire Cross-Country Championships, held at Hartford Campus last Wednesday.
Ten schools took part, and there were races for minor boys, minor girls (Year 7), junior boys, junior girls (Years 8 and 9), inter boys and inter girls (Years 10 and 11).
Individual athletes from Weaverham were winners in five of the six races - Todd Harrison (minor boys), Robert Pemberton (junior boys), George Thompson (inter boys), Kate Lievesley (junior girls) and Katie McGrath (inter girls).
Four other athletes were placed in the top three - Ali Leigh (third, minor boys), Beth Carter (second, junior girls), Sarah Taylor (2nd, inter girls) and Hannah Williamson (third, inter girls).
Thirty-four pupils from Weaverham have qualified to represent Mid-Cheshire in the Cheshire Championships in January.
FORMER Weaverham High pupil Alex Carter has her own reason to celebrate track success this week.
The Vale Royal AC runner has finished top of the yearly under-20s rankings, published in Athletics Weekly, for the 1500m.
Alex, who also runs for Loughborough University, also finished second in the average rankings for the 800m.
