WINNINGTON Park may not have cut much ice in the Second Division of the Murray Smith County Cricket League last season, but their groundsman can take a bow, his club finishing at the top of the Pitch Table.
In a survey of reports on their pitch for all 1st and 2nd XI home games, Winnington compiled 103 points from 21 matches at an average of 4.90 per game, which beat runners-up Hyde's 4.78.
Clubs received five points for every good report, three for average and nil for below standard.
First Division Oulton Park finished 18th in the table with 96 points.
Eight clubs who averaged less than four points per game will be offered the services of pitch advisor Geoff Brereton.
In other items reported by 1st XI umpires, Winnington Park received one below standard boundary marking, and Oulton Park one for their outfield.
