BIDDULPH market traders have given a thumbs down to the idea of staging farmers markets in the town.
Moorlands District Council handed out questionnaires to market traders in Biddulph, Leek and Cheadle to gauge support for encouraging new markets.
The questionnaires also sought to find out the extent to which retailers were already selling local produce.
Traders in Leek came out strongly against the initiative, no-one in Biddulph wanted to get involved, and the idea won support from just three Cheadle traders.
The council is due to approach the towns' chambers of trade to see what scope there is for promoting the three town centres.
