A DIAMOND couple are celebrating 60 years of happy marriage this week after first meeting as school friends.
James Edward, known as Ted, and Gladys Smith, of Oakbank Close, Willaston, were married in 1939.
They lived near Warrington and went to school and church together before their marriage.
The couple moved to this area after the war and have one son, Keith, who also lives in Nantwich.
"We've been married such a long time, the secret must be caring for each other, I think that's where a lot of young ones go wrong," said Mrs Smith.
