WARRINGTON Anglers' Association's river reports this week are few and far between but two members overcame the rising River Dee on Sunday to catch a good bag of mixed fish with chub to 3lbs and numerous dace and roach.
Cicely Mill Pool still remains on top form for all anglers as is seen by most pegs being taken at times.
Large tench along with bream and carp are being taken on numerous methods.
The sport on the Bridgewater Canal continues to improve all the time with pleasure anglers reporting good catches of mixed bags.
The pleasing factor of the reports is the large number of decent roach being caught along with numerous smaller ones.
Carp anglers are enjoying great sport from the noted areas along the length of the canal.
I came across one angler over the weekend who rates the canal as the best carp water in the area.
He is so pleased with his catch rate that he concentrates all his efforts and time to this venue.
Grey Mist is still producing with carp into double figures being taken along with tench and roach to around the 1lb mark.
Sport on the Mist is improving all the time now that the benefits of the weed treatment is starting to show.
I have received reports of good nets of bream to 5lbs being caught at Moore Quarry using a groundbait feeder and worm.
Also it was reported that during the member's session another angler fishing for pike caught specimens up to 18lbs in a bag of nine fish. These were taken using smelt both anchored to the bottom and also popped up off the bottom.
Christmas Fur and Feather tickets are on sale and may be purchased from myself at matches or on Friday nights at headquarters.
This weekend's planned Top Team Challenge on the Bridgewater Canal has been cancelled but a match will still be held on the venue with the draw taking place in the London Bridge pub at 11am.
