THIS was the most intense game between the two sides so far this season as both teams produced some outstanding rugby with many ferocious tackles on display.
The majority of the possession went to Widnes in the first half and Warrington let in two tries and gave away a silly penalty to put them behind 14-0 down at the break.
After the interval a lapse of concentration let Widnes in but Warrington never gave up, scoring 12 points in the space of five minutes through tries from A. Beckett and M. Glover.

BOTH teams played well as Sharks got a great start with tries from J. Thompson and L. Taylor but Judes came back with two tries.
Thompson, Taylor and Campbell all went in again for Rylands and even though Judes scored again Sharks scored through Hardman and Green to finish off the game.

ANOTHER great defensive performance from Woolston allowed them to take an early lead and hold on to it throughout.
Strong and determined running with the ball led to tries for Alex Milbourne, three, Thomas Cann, two, Michael Carey and Jake Whittaker.

DESPITE valiant efforts from the Woolston team they were unable to break the solid Pilks defence.
The scoreline is not a good reflection of the quality of the match.

LATCHFORD can feel very pleased with their performance against a stronger and faster opposition.
Halton's experience showed in their overall play but Latchford dug in and crossed for two tries scored by D. Cox and L. James.
They were well supported by M. Ball, L. Houghton, M. Povey, T. Darbyshire and T. Price. A superb try-saving tackle earned L. Leather top tackler while D. Ball was the referee's man of the match for a superb performance.

RYLANDS eventually overcame a much-improved West Bank side by playing some fast attacking rugby in difficult conditions.

ORRELL, having only lost one match in three years, came to Rylands as out and out favourites but Rylands were not daunted by the task and matched them in each department.
After a strong try from Matt Lomax Orrell edged ahead and by half-time Sharks found themselves two tries down despite an excellent try from Antony Nixon.
Rylands threw caution to the wind and with five minutes to go the score was 30-30 but tiredness set in and Orrell finally edged the win.

WITH players resting from the Saturday game Rylands fielded an inexperienced side against a game Oldham team which played well and was unlucky to lose by two points.
St. Annes took charge early on and Rylands were playing catch up rugby but the introduction of Antony Nixon midway through the first half changed the game completely.
His first touch of the ball was for a 50m try and Jack Cowell McQuillan scored a brave try in the corner before Antony completed his hat-trick.

IN a very close-fought game Latchford started strong and tackled fiercely to keep Golborne out.
Joe Gandy stepped inside the defence to score an individual try but Golborne hit back with a driving run from Jane Newman and as the final whistle approached the visitors grabbed a late try with a good run to the blind side of a tired defence.

DEFENCES were on top in this tense struggle as both teams struggled to break through.
It was Rovers who took a deserved lead when McKay powered through a rare gap to provide their only points. The result was in doubt until the final whistle, but the home side was able to find two gaps to settle the issue.

GRIFFINS can hold their heads up after a game where the score did not reflect the game.
The first half belonged to Griffins, who were playing with six first teamers out and took the game to Saddleworth but the second half slipped away with some basic errors that the opposition punished.

CROSFIELDS were shocked by an early Langworthy try but Mellor responded clamly to settle his side with a try at the corner.
Langworthy came back and scored twice but tries from Alcock and Grant put Crosfields in the lead for the first time in the match.
The visitors levelled with a penalty until Kilshaw hit a drop goal and Gordon sealed the game with a late try.
