TETLEY ground out another point in the First North Western Trains Division Two against form side Nelson on Saturday.
The title-chasers arrived at Long Lane expecting an easy win with their opponents struggling near the foot of the table.
Instead they were shocked by the fresh resilience and determination of a new-look Walker team.
But a dreary first half saw neither side rarely show enough creativity in midfield to threaten to break the deadlock.
Tetley's best chance came straight from the kick-off as Jimmy Collins played a cultured ball over the top and Andy Flood wrestled his way clear in the box only to see his low strike parried.
The rest of a scrappy half belonged to Nelson, who looked most likely to net first as Colin Wright played Mark Robinson clear but Walker goalkeeper Lee Medland ventured to the edge of his box to deflect the shot to safety.
After the break both sides seemed more willing to play their way through the middle of the park instead of resorting to hopeful long ball tactics.
Tetley again started brightly as Edwardson found space in the penalty area and powered a shot just wide.
But again Nelson looked the most dangerous as Darren Whittiker prodded a cross over the bar from short range.
Flood nearly provided the perfect response to some prolonged and unfair heckling from the visiting fans by putting Walker ahead on 77 minutes.
With the defence in disarray, following a breakdown in communication, he was allowed acres of space to latch on to Edwardson's flick header but he slid his shot inches wide.
In the dying moments both sides made last-ditch efforts to snatch the three points with Nelson substitute John Bailey sending Robinson into the box but his shot fizzed wide.
Finally, seven minutes into injury time, the home side nearly grabbed the glory but again goalkeeper Simon Burrows saved the day by deflecting another Edwardson strike.
Team: Lee Medland, Simon Corns, Carl Dermott, Lee Trantum, Lee Webster, Jimmy Collins, Jimmy Woodyer, Neil Maher, Barry Edwardson, Andy Flood, Karl Jones. Subs: Kevin Lonsdale, Dave Aspinall, Paul Gwyther.
