A WINSFORD woman has returned home after a fundraising bike ride - across Northern India.
Karen Wray, of Buckingham Drive, Winsford, undertook the challenge of a 341km journey in aid of Whizz Kids, a UK charity that helps children with restricted mobility.
She joined a group of 60 other fundraisers and 25 crew to travel from Jaipur to Agra in the Rajasthan region. The momentous journey ended at the Taj Mahal last Saturday, October 30.
Karen said: "We actually went back to look at the Taj Mahal the next day, Sunday, because no one could appreciate it on Saturday as we were all so exhausted from the journey.
"It was certainly an experience, and a gruelling challenge, but it was really amazing.
"There was not a drop of rain the whole week as we cycled in temperatures of 108 degrees Fahrenheit across diverse landscape - there was desert and there was farming land. We also visited schools and met local children.
"It was strange to be the odd ones out and have people staring at us for a change.
"I would like to say thanks to everyone who helped us to do it.
"I'm now looking forward to going for a reunion with my fellow cyclists in December."
Karen has so far raised £2,500 for Whizz Kids.
The team will know the total amount they raised through the trip by the end of November.
