I WAS very surprised to read the Guardian letters on October 27, that some/all Kingsmead residents were unaware of the road plans, before they signed their contracts; the plans were well publicised.
When the Kingsmead development was originally proposed, London Road and some Davenham residents expressed concern, in particular at the inevitable increase in traffic onto London Road.
There was general relief when the plans showed a re-routed main road and traffic calming measures on the "old" road.
The residents are naturally disappointed that these changes have not been fully implemented, but they are not blaming the Kingsmead residents.
The Kingsmead residents reaction on learning of the main road is understandable; their anger is justifiable, but it should be re-directed. They should not blame the London Road residents.
It would be a pity if this circumstance is allowed to create disharmony between the two communities.
