West Cheshire Football League. Division One.

General Chemicals F.C 2 - v - Mersey Royal F.C. 3.

GENERAL Chemicals arrived for this home game with their main playmakers Paul Howard and Robbie Wood missing from the squad. Kev Jacques and Mike Smith took up the wide roles and Karl Thomas and Steve Arnold formed the strikeforce.

Mersey Royal were a strong side with ex Poulton Vics player Lee Heeson playing as Centre Back.

The game started with Royal dominating but it was Chemics who scored first after Mark Ingham forced the ball home after a goalmouth scramble.

This was after 15 minutes, and it was still one nil to the Chemics at the interval.

It looked as though Mersey Royal would never score until the normally organised Robbie Moore upended the Royal Centre Forward and gave a penalty away.

Royal scored, but, within ten minutes a brilliant run and shot by Steve Arnold put the Chemics once again in control.

Even the Mersey Royal manager told his side after the game that they had got out of jail, as ten minutes before the end of the game, Robbie Moore was unfortunate enough to direct a header into his own goal and then, without any assistance from the Chemics defence, Royal took the lead and the three points.

This was another three point thrown away by Gen Chems, who played well throughout, surely their luck must change and then they can hopefully put together some consistency.

Next week, Chemics entertain Poulton Victoria in a League Fixture.

Kick off 3pm Saturday 30th October at Port Sunlight.

The Chemics weekly £100 draw winner was K Jacques with number 171.
