FIREFIGHTERS are urging people to remember the dangers of fires and fireworks.
Runcorn fire brigade's Andy Watson said: "At this time of year, we are inundated with calls dealing with nuisance bonfires that get out of control.
"This means firefighters and engines are tied up and unavailable for more important fires, which means lives are being put at risk.
"We would like parents to advise their children of the dangers and consequences of lighting nuisance bonfires.
"People are injured and even killed each year because of fireworks and aerosols being thrown into bonfires.
"The brigade's advice is that the best way to enjoy Bonfire Night is to attend an organised event."
