READ in the GUARDIAN, October 29 that "commuters may lose morning bus" as the council wants to stop early services that are unprofitable.
I thought that the council fully supported the government's pledge of an integrated transport policy. Should the Environmental Services Committee agree such cuts, I hope they consider every avenue to retain all unprofitable routes as this will certainly affect people going to work, shoppers, students, pensioners and people on low incomes. This is a further nail in the coffin for people in the social exclusion bracket - never mind getting cars off the roads.
Warrington Borough Transport does provide a good service but do they need a paid chairman, a managing director, company secretary and treasurer? Could they not streamline the operational day to day management of transport managers, inspectors and sell the bus depot (prime land) and re-invest?
Ratepayers already subsidise many services in the town, maybe the council should consult them through the Warrington 1000 group.
