LYMM Angling Club fisheries are producing mixed fortunes at the moment.

The waters on Belmont Estate are a good option as it offers a selection of waters on the one site.

By and large it's the silver fish that are providing the best of the sport. Despite this, carp action is still enjoyed on Belmont Pool with members catching up to 10 per session last week.

Big roach are a big feature at the moment with some fine specimen reported from Village Pool, Statham Pool, Founders Pool and Lymm Dam.

It is amazing how suddenly big roach appear with the onset of colder weather and shorter days. It has long been noted that big roach are banked more often during periods of very dull weather.

As predicted by Lymmvale's specimen anglers the golden orfe 8lbs barrier has been broken.

The fish, which fell to member Pete Womersley, weighed in at 8lbs 2ozs 0drms which was well above the existing record. The fish was one of two considered to be above 8lbs, one mostly golden and one which carries a lot of black. Pete's fish was the all golden specimen which he caught on peg 29. Pete was using waggler tactics, two to three rod lengths out, fishing eight foot in 10 foot of water with single caster used as bait.

Tench and carp continue to provide sport on Lymmvale with several specimens of tench around 8lbs obliging angling companions Derek Dickinson and Vincent Molyneux.

Carp to 17-8-0 have also obliged members this week. Small commons are feeding hard at the bottom of the shelf in deep water for those who wish to fish very light for them.

Members are reminded that the club's fur and feather match is scheduled for Sunday, November 14, with the draw taking place at Waterways car park (old Rangers Cabin). To book your place or for more information ring R. Boden on 632271.
