CONGLETON Lions Club has helped to pay for new monitoring equipment at the world-famous Christie Hospital cancer centre.
The club contributed £400 towards the cost of the £3,000 Dinamap Compact Monitor computerised machine.
The machine checks and monitors blood pressure and oxygenation and the pulse rate of patients, and is being put to good use in ward 12.
It was bought by six Lions clubs in the South Manchester zone, including Congleton, with the proceeds of quiz, race and casino nights.
The clubs used the remainder of the money they raised to buy toys for children at Christie's Young Oncology unit.
The six clubs are also supporting the Medic Alert Foundation bracelet - medical history system and Sightfirst drive to eradicate preventable blindness.
