HUNDREDS of pounds are being spent on fireworks to make a community bonfire party go off with a bang.

The fun is due to start at 7pm tomorrow evening when a bonfire is lit at Bromley Farm Community Centre in Congleton.

The November 5 celebrations are organised by the estate's community group, which has this year spent £300 on fireworks.

Refreshments, including chips, hot dogs and burgers, will be available in the community centre, and tickets are priced at

£2 for adults, £1 for children and £6.50 for a family.

''The bonfire and fireworks are always very popular, and the display will be controlled by four or five marshalls,'' said bonfire organiser George Hammond.

Tickets are available on the night or by ringing Mr Hammond's wife Deborah on 281791.
