NANTWICH Town finally got the better of Mere KA with a 4-2 victory in the FA Vase first round replay, last Wednesday.
After their first see-saw encounter, the return at Hilderstone Road began in exactly the same fashion.
The Dabbers made a great start after three minutes when Rooney Smith gave them the lead but four minutes later the home side were back on level terms through Martin Wood.
Andy Gayle's fifteenth of the season on the half hour mark restored the advantage but Mere again clawed their way back five minutes before the interval as Moran struck.
Nantwich came out strong for the restart and Mike Williamson converted a penalty on 72 minutes after Danny Griggs was hacked down in the box.
Dougie Dawson wrapped it up with five minutes to go with a 30 yard screamer.
The Dabbers will now face Kidsgrove in the second round on Saturday, November 13, kick off 1pm.
Nantwich's return to league action ended in a 3-0 home defeat against Salford last Saturday
After a quiet first half, Salford took advantage of some sloppy defending to score all three in the last seventeen minutes.
They will hope to make amends this Saturday as they entertain mid-table Ramsbottom United, kick off 3pm.
