A CHILDREN'S charity is set to benefit when Charles Davies puts his best foot forward this Sunday - in New York.
Mr Davies, from Edleston Hall Lane, Nantwich, will be running in this year's New York Marathon to raise money for Get Kids Going.
Some 500 runners, the largest UK charity team ever, are being taken over to America for the event.
The charity provides personalised wheelchairs, trikes and other mobility aids for disabled children and young people to use at home, school or college and to become independent.
"I really wanted to run to help disabled children and young people to get going. Especially those kids who can't even walk never mind about run," said Mr Davies.
"The children desperately need wheelchairs to get about and compete in sports such as marathons.
"The average cost of a child's trike is £700 and a sports wheelchair is £2,500 so I'm hoping to raise as much as I can for Get Kids Going."
Some 35,000 runners are expected to take part in the marathon, on November 7, starting from the Statue of Liberty.
They will run across Verrazano Narrows Bridge, which is more than 13,000 feet long, past the Brooklyn Bridge into Queens and Harlem finishing in Central Park.
