WARRINGTON Rugby League Club have fielded some great wingers over the past 121 years.

Brian Bevan, John Bevan and Mark Forster are just three of the prolific scorers that stand out.

But none of them achieved what Rob Smyth produced for the Wolves on Sunday, when Huddersfield-Sheffield Giants came to town.

Smyth became the first Wolves player to score four times on his league debut. Jason Roach achieved four on his debut at Wakefield Trinity two years ago in a cup game.

Smyth's haul came in the opening 24 minutes, with two of them being handed on a plate by his centre partner Ian Knott.

He said: "I would have swapped them all for a Wolves win."

Smyth is with Warrington on a month's loan from London Broncos in exchange for Jon Roper.

The 23-year-old ex-Rose Bridge amateur and Ireland international managed five tries in 16 games in each of his past two seasons with the Broncos, with whom he has gained one Challenge Cup runners-up medal.
