EVERTHING was "just perfect" for our Bride and Bridegroom of the Year on their wedding day.

Amanda Hampton and Jason Leigh were married at St Mary's Church, Nantwich on Saturday.

"It was fantastic. We had a great day and we even had some sunshine. We couldn't have scripted it better," said Amanda.

The couple, who had set up home in Shavington, were the winners of the GUARDIAN'S competition earlier this year.

They scooped a prize package worth more than £1,000. It provided a big boost towards the cost of their special occasion and included accessories and services offered by local businesses taking part in the millennium South Cheshire Wedding Fayre.

"We would like to give a big thank you to everyone who donated the prizes," Amanda added.

Amongst the many messages of congratulations and good luck on Saturday were those from pupils and staff at Acton Primary School where Amanda is a teacher.

Jason is a policeman in the Royal Airforce.

For a honeymoon the pair are planning a trip to Cornwall where they have dreams of owning a BB business one day.

Their clear ideas for the future helped clinch them the Bride and Groom of the Year title.
