NORLEY driver Joanna Clarke recovered from an early setback to finish in 12th place in round 10 of the Ford Credit Fiesta Zetec Championship at Donington Park.

Joanna qualified in 10th position, improving on her testing time by half a second, and was optimistic about gaining places in the race.

Her plan was to keep out of trouble on the opening lap, and while she managed to steer clear of the normal first-corner mayhem, she was unfortunately sent sideways at the Melbourne Loop, dropping her down to 18th place.

She then fought hard to battle her way back through the opposition to finish in 12th place.

After the race Joanna said: "I'm disappointed not to have finished in the top 10, but given that I was in 18th at the end of the first lap, I'm pleased with the result.

"At least I finished the race and did some great overtaking manoeuvres into the bargain."

Joanna is now looking forward to her next race, which will be on her home circuit at Oulton Park on the weekend of September 9 and 10.

She said: "I think we've got an excellent chance of a good finish and hopefully I'll have lots of local support too."
