RESIDENTS Against Mine Pollution are waiting with baited breath for a decision on the proposed chemical dump in Bostock.

A decision from Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott could come within a fortnight.

RAMP member Laura Williams said: "It's possible that we'll hear something in the next 10 to 14 days but we can't guarantee it."

RAMP are protesting against plans to convert Mine Shaft Four in Bostock to a chemical waste dump on a number of health and safety grounds and are hoping that Mr Prescott wil call for a public inquiry.

Last week the protesters were dealt a blow when the Deputy Prime Minister refused to meet them face to face.

But the battle goes on as RAMP and MP Stephen O'Brien are encouraging anyone with views on the proposed dump to make their feelings known to Mr Prescott.
