PICTURED are players and coaches from newly-formed rugby club, Widnes Moorfield ARL.

Based at Moorfield Sports & Social club, Moorfield Road, Halton View, the club is about to embark on its first season.

The club boasts first class facilities with new changing rooms and two rugby pitches which are used by four existing sides.

But the club is currently undergoing a five year development plan which will provide further pitches, including all weather training facilities, and they are looking for new players to join them.

Coach Paul Fraser, an ex-professional for Oldham, Wigan and Runcorn, said: "The aim of the club is to ensure the kids have fun and enjoy the game of rugby league rather than concentrate on the competitive side of things.

"Training consists of lots of ball skills, set pieces and developing their co-ordination.

"The players are developed at their own pace depending in what type of player they are, regardless of experience."

The ages range from u10s to u13s, but the club is looking for more children to join to enable them to set up u7s, u8s and u9s sides.

Coaching is on Wednesday between 6.15pm and 7.30pm and Saturdays between 11am and 12.30pm.

"All new players are promised a warm welcome," said Paul.

"The club has a large number of fully qualified coaches.

"Their experience covers top class amateur to professional. In line with the club's ambitious plans, we are currently looking for existing coaches, or people interested in qualifying, to add to our ranks."

The club is a member of BARLA, North West Counties and Widnes District amateur rugby league. It is also actively involved in rugby's new Service Area, linking up with professionals at both coach and committee level.
