Widnes Moorfield u13 14

Leigh Miner Rangers u13 10

THIS being the first ever game for this newly-formed rugby section, Moorfield got off to a good start with Peter Wright scoring the first ever try after great work from Kelly and Bloomfield.

Leigh tackled relentlessly, but just before half time saw some excellent running from Skarratts and Ostick to put Riley away who then set up Billington to score with Riley adding the extras.

Moorfield went in at half time 10-0 up.

In the second half Moorfield dropped off the tackling letting Leigh in out wide with Leigh making good the extras with the score 10-6 to Moorfield.

Some outstanding work from Kelly saw Bloomfield race onto a peach of a pass to score in the corner, then Moorfield paid the price for sloppy tackling and Leigh scored again to make it 14-10.

Leigh pressed hard but to Moorfield's credit they held out to take this win in Leigh's own back yard.

Moorfield now take on Blackbrook in this premiership play-offs on Saturday at 12.15pm at Leigh Miners.
