FIREFIGHTERS were called to free a woman from her car following a smash on the Commonside at Kingsley in Frodsham on Friday morning.
One crew from Runcorn and one from Frodsham were called to the scene at 8.30am.
The saloon car had turned over on its side on a country lane and the woman was trapped.
A spokesperson for Mersey regional ambulance service said that the air ambulance was mobilised because of the location of the accident.
Paramedics feared the woman would be trapped for some time but firefighters managed to release her quickly using specialist cutting equipment to remove the roof of the car.
She was then taken by air ambulance to the Countess of Chester hospital where she was treated for neck and hip injuries.
