TETLEY Walker FC continued their build-up to the new season with an impressive 2-1 win over a young Wigan Athletic side at Long Lane on Saturday.
Former Wigan player, Barry Edwardson, opened the scoring in the 25th minute, before Gary Bickerstaffe, a new signing from St. Helens Town, headed the second from a 40th minute corner.
Wigan centre half Ben Kay pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 75th minute.
In an entertaining and free flowing game, Tetley hit the woodwork twice and drew several fine saves out of Wigan goalkeeper Richard Jones, who after the game signed for Tetley.
Tetley Walker's last pre-season friendly before the big kick-off is at home to Prescot Cables on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
