YOUNGSTERS at Warrington Hospital were given a special treat by the town's rugby stars as the club celebrated a benchmark in its fundraising feats.

Warrington Wolves has raised more than £250,000 for charity in just six months since it set up its community partnership development programme.

The club has donated various items of memorabilia such as match balls, tickets and shirts to charities - a trend it continued when members of the team visited the children's ward at Warrington Hospital on Tuesday.

Community development manager Adam Jude said: "The club always looks to see how it can assist worthwhile causes in any way possible.

"Things like hospital visits go some way to raising the profile of community issues and that's important to the club."

Adam went on to single out three key areas of the Wolves charity work:

Each year the club nominates a charity which it works closely with over 12 months. This year it is supporting the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Trust.

It works closely with school PTAs to raise money and awareness in education on various issues and also to promote the game of rugby.

The club works with various children's charities in conjunction with local businesses to provides seats in the Brian Bevan stand at matches for disadvantaged children who would otherwise not get the opportunity to go to a game.
