A BOROUGH councillor has been quizzed by police over allegations of misuse of the internet in relation to indecent photographs.
Clr Darren Pilling, who represents the Poplars ward, was questioned on Friday before being bailed to return to the police station at a later date. No charges were made against him.
He has since been suspended from his job with the Royal Mail and has resigned as the branch secretary of the Communication Workers Union.
Clr Mike Hughes, deputy leader of Warrington Borough Council said: "The Labour Party and the council will be taking appropriate action as information about the situation becomes available.
"Clr Pilling has temporarily stood down from his committees."
Clr Pilling was not available for comment.
