A MUM is preparing to take to the skies to raise cash for a charity close to her heart.

Jane Hall, from Waring Avenue, Latchford, will be leaping thousands of feet from a plane on August 26 to show her support for a research fund.

The 21-year-old's cousin, Nicola Felstead, suffers from Niemann Pick Disease, a condition which attacks the nervous system of young children.

There is no cure for it - but Jane hopes that her brave effort will go some small way towards changing that.

She said: "I've always wanted to do a parachute jump for charity. My cousin has Niemann Pick Disease, so I will be doing it for her."

Nicola, aged 10, is now wheelchair-bound as a result of the disease taking its toll.

Niemann Pick Disease sufferers seldom survive past their 15th birthday and now Nicola's family are playing a waiting game.

"It's just a matter of time now," said Jane, who has a two-year-old daughter, Leah.

Jane's skydiving effort will be in aid of the Niemann Pick Disease Foundation, which is searching to find a remedy for the condition.

So far her supporters include Asda Westbrook and Pierpoint and Bryant Social Club, which have helped her come close to raising the £700 she needs to take part in the jump.
