GORGONZOLA, Gouda and Gruyere may tickle the tastebuds of the British public, but it's traditional Cheshire cheese that puts a smile on the face of most Warringtonians.
Reports claiming that sales of Cheshire cheese are plummeting in favour of more exotic varieties are defied by the town's cheese lovers, who have not strayed away from the Cheshire taste.
Rachel Boden, who works on Mottershead's Nantwich Cheshire stall in Warrington Market, said that Cheshire cheese is still a hit with most shoppers.
"There are quite a few younger people who buy Cheshire cheese. If they buy other brands they mainly go back to Cheshire and you've got value for money as well," she said.
