SIMON Tatters and Paul Beaumont produced some sparkling bowling on Saturday as Congleton 2nds crushed Ashton on Mersey.

Tatters took five wickets for the second week running as Congleton bowled out their opponents for only 77 runs.

Congleton had opened with 151 all out, Ian Wrench batting superbly to score 54.

Congleton started badly, and were soon in trouble, being reduced to 12 for three in the eighth over, before a revival from the middle order.

One of the highlights of the innings was a beautifully struck six from bowler Ian Tate.

Tatters ended with figures of five for 28, taking his tally for the season to 27 wickets, and was supported by a fine four for 15 in eight overs from Beaumont.

Paul Dixon took the other wicket at a cost of six runs in six overs.

Congleton picked up 22 points to five for Ashton.
