SENIOR Tesco officers were due to be quizzed this week on their plans for a new store in Congleton.

Tesco has submitted a scheme for a supermarket off the Clayton Bypass, which would create 200 jobs and could open next summer

Congleton town councillors were due to discuss the plans on Wednesday at a private presentation by the company.

The meeting was due to be attended by a planning consultant, highway expert and architect from Tesco.

Issues up for discussion included the retail impact of the store on Congleton Town Centre, the layout and design of the supermarket, and planned improvements at the Waggon and Horses junction.
