CHILDREN from London have been given the chance to sample life in the country thanks to kind-hearted families in Hartford.

The group of children, aged between five and nine, arrived in the village by train from Euston Railway Station last Wednesday.

The trip has been organised by Jean Iggo, of the Children's Country Holidays Fund.

Some of the children were not only enjoying their first holiday but also their first time away from London.

They will be staying in the homes of volunteer host families.
