THE weather had the final word in a disappointing match at Oxton on Saturday.

Toft won the toss and asked Oxton to bat first and after 55 overs they had scored 174 all out mainly thanks to Cash in with 82.

For Toft, wicket-keeper Meadows turned in a good performance with one catch and three stumpings and Muirhead took 4 for 39.

Toft in their reply were 30 without loss after 11 overs when the heavens opened, driving the players from the field.

When play restarted 17 overs had been lost, which meant Toft had only 27 overs left to score the 145 runs still needed for victory.

And it was a target that was never really on after the loss of two quick wickets.

The overcast conditions and failing light effectively killed off the game as a contest and it ended in a frustrating draw with Toft on 80 for 4 with Roy on 38 not out.

On Saturday Toft entertain Didsbury at Booths Park; 12.30pm start.
