KNYPERSLEY Victoria slipped to a 2-0 defeat in their season opener at Wednesfield.
Both Midland Football Alliance teams had their chances Stribling only denied an early opener for Vics by a cracking save from keeper Singh.
Just before half-time, they came close again as Shallcross met Brownsword's corner with a powerful volley that was charged down off the line.
In a see-saw second half, Wednesfield broke the deadlock on 70 minutes as Hayre steered home a loose ball in the box.
An off-the-ball incident saw Vic's down to 10 men as Thompson walked and the home side wrapped up victory on 86 minutes as Smith's shot hit defender Shenton in the back and deflected just inside the post.
This Saturday, Knypersley travel to Oadby Town with the coach leaving at 12pm, all welcome and the Vics are at home on Tuesday against Shifnal Town, KO 7.45pm.
