VILLAGERS will see their dreams become a reality tomorrow with the unveiling of a new community centre.

The new Lawton Memorial Hall has been created on the site of the former hall in Liverpool Road West, Church Lawton.

The new brick-built building has cost £230,000, and has replaced a wooden hall alongside, which is due to be pulled down.

Congleton MP Ann Winterton and Borough Mayor Ray Lowe are to attend tomorrow's official opening, which is due to be performed by Annette Cooper.

Mrs Cooper is chairman of the hall's management committee, which won support from the scheme from a host of grant bodies.

The National Lottery Charities Board gave £90,000 to the scheme, which has taken four years to come to fruition.

It also won the backing of the Countryside Agency, Cheshire Community Trust, Congleton Borough Council and Church Lawton Parish Council, along with vital fund-raising organised by the management committee.

The hall is very well used by a range of groups, although bookings are still being invited for Tuesdays.

"We have two day centres, a retirement club, bowling, dancing and lots of other functions," said Mrs Cooper.

"The new hall is going to be a valuable asset to the community."
