THE time of the Carnival is upon us once again and this year over 35,000 are expected to attend a week on Saturday.
Over 10,000 people will line the procession route to marvel at the fabulous range of floats in true Carnival tradition.
Every year the carnival adds new attractions and gets bigger and better and this year's is no exception.
DAY OF THE HUNTER
STANDING at six foot and three inches tall and weighing over 18 stone Gladiator TV star Hunter is one attraction you will find it hard to miss.
Hunter will lead the procession and then sign autographs as the Carnival gets fully under way at Queens Park.
Hunter, or James Crossley, as he is otherwise known will also be doing his favourite training routine and pulling cars around the park.
Fans will be able to come along to get a photograph with the star and his 51 inch chest!.. and for birds of prey
THE Carnival family favourite, Cheshire Falconry, will be returning once again with its spectacular birds of prey.
The birds will be on site for both Saturday and Sunday and revellers will be able to see the birds at close quarters and ask questions of the handlers.
FAVOURITES RETURN
TWO Carnival favourites are returning with the Craft and Gift Fayre and the Malpas Vintage Machinery.
Also the members of Lonestar Line Dancers fronted by local star Dave 'The Rave' and his Red Hot Ravers will be demonstrating some routines and famous magicman Nick Janson will be performing his suspended burning rope/straight jacket escape trick.
APOCALYPTIC HORSEMEN
THE Horsemen of the Apocalypse have appeared in a range of television and films as stuntmen including Hollywood blockbuster Sleepy Hollow and Jason the Argonauts and they will be in Queen's Park on the Saturday putting on a stunt filled show.
BEARS GO CRAZY
THE promise is always made that there will be something for the whole family and The Crazy Bears will be fulfilling this pledge.
The show features games and competitions and show times are at 3.30pm and 4.45pm along the main drive.
CLASSIC CARS
THE dads will also be taken care of with two classic cars taking a starring role in Queens Park
The Cheshire Cats Mini Club will be providing a fantastic display of one of Britain's favourite cars.
The Mini is in its 41st year of production and will also be joined on the Saturday by the South Cheshire MG Owners Club.
BANDS READY TO ROCK
THE Limelight Club looks set to make its usual outstanding contribution to the festivities with Atomic Finger and Oblivion performing on Saturday in the Bandstand.
Oblivion will perform material ranging from heavy metal to Robbie Williams and Atomic Finger, who have appeared alongside bands like Louise, Five and Billy, will be accompanied by their multitude of fans bringing an electric atmosphere to the gig.
FIREWORKS NIGHT
SATURDAY evening sees a fireworks extravaganza takeover the occasion in Queens Park and there is no admission fee at all.
Don't miss the fireworks spectacular which will give the end of the Saturday programme of events a dramatic and colourful finale.
LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE
WRESTLING is to return with a difference on Saturday evening when the Carnival Rumble comes to town.
Eight star wrestlers including, Legend of Doom and Rick Masters as the Undertaker, will be involved in the explosive event.
The crowd will see a wrestler entering the ring every two minutes until there is only one supreme winner left.
The event will begin at around 7pm but watch out if you are seated at the front row as the fast and furious action will no doubt involve wrestlers flying over the ropes.
WE'LL BE THERE
THE GUARDIAN will be at the Carnival so make sure you come along to see our float. We will also be handing out goodies as the float makes it way to Queens Park.
THOUSANDS of people will line the streets of Crewe to see the colourful costumes and floats which have been painstakingly perfected in the days preceding the big event.
Last year first prize in the pedestrian entry class was won by Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council's Streetwise team.
