IT'S the big kick off for Crewe FC as they begin life in the First Division of the Mid Cheshire League this Saturday.
Garswood will provide tough opposition after a respectable finish last year in their first taste of the top flight.
Crewe FC boss Ian O'Riely is optimistic of a good season ahead of their home opener at the Cumberland Sports Ground.
"We can't wait for it," he said. "We're looking good and we've done really well in pre-season."
The club have notched up some impressive results against a good standard of opposition. An 8-0 thrashing of Prestatyn was followed by an excellent 4-2 victory against NW Counties Div Two side Alsager Town.
Paul Evans, Gary Wood and Donovan Brown known as 'Junior' have all been added to the squad during the close season.
"The squad is looking strong for this season and Steven May, their trainer, has worked hard with them over the summer," said O'Riely.
"Garswood will be a good test for us."
Kick-off at the Cumberland this Saturday is at 3pm and the club is hosting a prestigious friendly against Crewe Alexandra's Under 19 academy side the following Monday, August 21, with kick-off at 6.15pm. Admission is £2.
