WARRINGTON Rugby Union team has been boosted by the return of two former players.

Stewart Edwards comes back to Bridge Lane from Widnes and ex-Warrington Wolves player Andy Bennett is also back for his second spell at the club.

But the club still needs extra troops to bolster the five sides they will be running this season.

Last year was the most successful in the club's history as they reached the Lancashire Trophy final, the semi-finals of the Lancashire Cup and gained promotion to the new Cheshire and Lancashire League, which is three levels below the National Leagues.

Training continues at Bridge Lane, Appleton each Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm.

On Saturday, Warrington will play at Macclesfield in a friendly and the first league game is home to Aspull on September 2.

Warrington have been drawn against North Yorkshire side Driffield in the preliminary round of the Tetley Bitter Cup on September 9. The winners will play at Liverpool St. Helens who have former Warrington coach Kevin Greaves on their coaching set-up headed by former Rugby League star Eric Hughes.
