THE Scott Street Carnival proved to be a great success when it took place on Saturday with an attendance of more than 800 people.

Scores of local residents turned up to the event, held near Battersby Lane, to witness an appearance by the deputy mayor, Councillor Jeff Richards, carnival queen Stephanie Percival and guest stars from the Warrington Wolves.

The carnival, which was resurrected last year after a 13 year absence, also featured children's races, a bowling alley, bouncy castle, funfair rides and a tug of war competition between several nearby pubs.

There were more than 20 raffle prizes up for grabs including a signed Wolves shirt and mountain bike.

Fairfield Community Officer, David Etock was the lucky winner of a £100 clothes voucher donated by Asda.

All the money raised at the carnival has been donated to Warrington Hospital's dialysis unit.
