But a specialist diagnosed a rare eye cancer and when surgeons operated they found 18 tumours in two-year-old Theo Hayecks eye.
Since then he has lost his right eye and had nine months of chemotherapy.
But the new treatment leaves him blind for several days.
He gets upset because he doesnt know where his mum or dad are, said the boys aunt, Kate Simcock, matron at Mobberleys Barclay Park Nursing Home.
