BUDDING teenage singer Sophie Forrester dreams of becoming a popstar.

This talented 13-year-old has just got through to the final 30 out of 500 hopefuls in a competition organised by Smash Hits magazine.

She had to sing and dance at a top studio in London. She performed Don't Speak by No Doubt.

"I had a really good day," said Sophie of Dykin Road, Widnes. "I think it went really well. They took photos at the end and said we'd be in the magazine."

Although she didn't win, Sophie is still bubbling with confidence and ambition.

"I want to be a singer when I am older," said Sophie, a pupil at Fairfield High School.

"I have always liked singing and performing and dancing."

She recently performed a duet with her sister, Becky, 16, at The RAOB club and is keen to do more gigs.

They recorded a CD on a recent holiday in Benidorm.

Sophie, who also plays the violin, is now looking for an agent.

"I have the support of my parents, they know I'm serious about this. I'm inspired by singers like Britney Spears who are so young."

Anyone interested in becoming Sophie's agent can phone her on 0151-420 8039.
